1. MUSIC:
q Memorize the words to the Trek
Theme Song.
2. PHYSICAL PREPARATION:
q Walk/Bike/Run three times a week
for 30 minutes for at least 8 weeks.
3. RESEARCH A PIONEER:
q Read and learn about one Willie or
Martin Handcart Company pioneer. Be prepared to share what you have learned
with your Trek family.
4. SCRIPTURES & PRAYER:
q The scriptures meant everything to
the pioneers. Take at least 5 minutes
each day to read. Prayer was essential
to make it through what they did. Pray
daily and record thoughts and impressions in your journal.
5. THREE DAYS OF SACRIFICE:
q The pioneers are such a good
example of sacrifice. To attempt to understand what the pioneers experienced
give up something that you enjoy for at least three days.
6. SERVICE:
q Read President Gordon B. Hinckley’sConference talk. (Ensign, Nov. 1991, pages 54-55).
q The pioneers were constantly giving
service to each other, take the time to participate in a service activity
before trek.
7. COME UNTO CHRIST:
q Read Elder Ballard’s Conferencetalk (Ensign, May 1997, pages 59-61).
