Packing Lists

Please plan to bring your sleeping bag and a 5 gallon bucket with all items on the packing list to the Stake Center on Wednesday, July 11th from 7-9pm.  Please make the appropriate arrangements to be there during this time frame as the Stake Center will not be open before or after.

We will be meeting at the Stake Center 7:30am Thursday, July 12th.  Please make sure you arrive on time.  You may bring a bag (backpack size) that will sit on your lap.

**Please bring a SACK LUNCH to be eaten the first day on the trail**

Sleeping Items
The following items should be double-bagged in heavy duty plastic bags.
  • Warm Sleeping Bag 
  • Small Pillow
  • Warm Coat, rolled in with sleeping bag
  • Optional, thin sleeping mat **NO AIR MATTRESSES!!**
5 Gallon Bucket with Lid
Please write your name in permanent marker on both the lid and the bucket. The bucket will travel with you on the handcart.  All of the following items must be inside the bucket, with the exception of the clothes you will be wearing on the day we leave.


EVERYONE should bring:

  • Sack lunch
  • 1 old blanket (wool if possible)
  • 1 old coat (heavy and warm)
  • 1 rain poncho
  • 2 pair of shoes to hike in (don't buy new ones -- they will give you blisters. Sturdy running or tennis shoes will work fine if you don't have hiking boots) 􏰁4 pair of sturdy socks
  • 3 pair inner socks (optional) 􏰁3 sets of underclothing
  • 1 bandanna
  • 1 small hand towel and a comb or brush
  • 1 toothbrush & toothpaste
  • prescribed medications only
  • An old set of scriptures
  • 2 heavy duty garbage bags
  • Water bottle, canteen, or small camel back
  • Chapstick (lip balm), insect repellent, small package of HandiWipes and sunscreen
  • Trek 􏰁Journal and a pen or pencil
  • 1 pair of sunglasses
MEN should bring:
  • 2 pairs of canvas, or cotton pants (best if not levis)
  • 2 long-sleeved shirts (cotton are best, but any will do)
  • 1 wide-brimmed western style hat (no baseball or army hats allowed)
  • 1 pair suspenders
  • 1 set of pajamas
WOMEN should bring:
  • 􏰁2 mid-calf length, long-sleeved dresses or skirts
  • 1 or 2 bonnets
  • 􏰁2 pair of knee-length bloomers (can be made out of old pajama bottoms or hospital pants)
  • 1 apron
  • 􏰁2 long-sleeved shirts (if wearing skirts)
  • 􏰁1 set of pajamas
  • 􏰁Feminine hygiene supplies
FAMILIES should bring:
  • 3 tents to accommodate Trek family members
  • 4 tarps
  • 􏰁2- 5 gallon water jugs
  • 1 family flag
  • 1 family songbook
  • 1 simple first aid kit
  • 10 Pony Express letters
  • 12 3x4 pioneer name cards
  • Fire starting tools 

Leave your electronic items including phones, iPods, tablets and lap tops at home.
