Is there a cost?

Will there be requirements to go on the Trek?
Everyone who goes on Trek will be required to turn in proper registration forms.  We highly recommend that you prepare yourselves physically and spiritually.  The "Trail of Faith" Award will not only help you prepare for Trek but it will help you towards your Personal Progress and Duty to God Awards.  It will also help establish a spiritual strength that will help you the rest of your life.  We will be telling you more about this award at the meeting on .

How much walking will we do?
We will walk and pull handcarts 3-5 miles a day.  It will be important to be in shape and to have sturdy tennis shoes/boots.  Start now to exercise and break in your shoes.  You will be glad you did!!

What should I be doing now to prepare for Trek?
The best thing you can do is work on the "Trail of Faith" requirements.  Some will take longer than others. Hopefully, you are already learning about the Willie and Martin Handcart companies.  Exercising throughout the next few months is important.  Remember that your Trek experience will depend on how well you have prepared. Drink plenty of water.

Is the "Trail of Faith" Award required?
No, but we promise you will be happy if you do it!!

When do I need to have my pioneer clothes?
Plan on having all of your pioneer clothing one month prior to Trek.  Deseret Industries is a great resource but with many other Stakes in the valley participating in Trek we recommend that you start to collect (or make) your clothing as early as possible.  See the Dress Standards tab on this blog for ideas.

Can I wear contacts?
The use of contacts is discouraged.  It can be windy and handcarts might make a lot of dust.  Plan now to have a pair of glasses you can use.  If you must wear contacts have a sturdy pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes.

Can I go on Trek if I am a high school senior?
If you graduate from high school this spring and have been involved in Ward and Stake activities then you are invited to attend.

When do I need to return my Permission/Medical form?
All registration forms must be turned in by Sunday, June 24th.  The Stake will collect the forms at the Trek Fireside.

When do I need to have all of my personal equipment together?
Please bring your sleeping bag, pillow and a 5 gallon bucket with all items on the packing list (see the Packing Lists tab) to the Stake Center on Wednesday, July 11th from 7-9pm.

Will everybody ride the buses?
There will be room on the buses for all youth and Ma/Pa's as well as most committee members.  Some committee members will travel in separate Travel Support vehicles.

Can I come to Trek late or leave early?
No.  If you have an extenuating circumstance please contact Jason or Ruth Dixon @ 801-282-8793 or ruth.dixon6@gmail.com.
